Modern Coastal vs. Contemporary Elegance: Which Style Fits Your St. Pete Home?

The vibes of a home can be tweaked by rotating decor and updating furniture. But when that’s not enough to quench your desire for a complete refresh, you’re looking at a floor-to-ceiling designer renovation. Custom home remodels make the biggest impact when you keep to a consistent theme, but what will that be? Modern coastal and contemporary elegance are two popular styles among homeowners in St. Petersburg looking to embrace seaside charm and elevate their space with today’s finest luxuries.

Embracing Florida Vibes With Modern Coastal Design

Modern coastal interior design can be best described as oceanic in a more upscale fashion. None of those tacky nautical knick-knacks on the walls or white-painted wood furniture. This theme takes the core concepts of this classic style and fuses them with today’s standard of lavish interior design.

Designer renovations in St. Petersburg that are centered around a modern coastal theme typically include these key elements:

Soft color palettes that are reminiscent of beachside living, like ocean blues, sandy beiges, and gentle whites.

Light fixtures that accurately mimic natural light sources. Layered lighting with simple pendant-style fixtures works nicely in a coastal-themed custom kitchen.

Molded paneling and organic materials create a cozy coastal atmosphere while staying in tune with modern design, with sharp edges and clear lines for borders.

Creating Modern Luxury With Contemporary Elegance

Homeowners in Florida looking to get away from the cliche coastal theme are quickly adopting the spirit of contemporary elegance for their high-end home renovation. Posh spaces that emphasize luxury include premium upgrades that are deliberately chosen in a collaborative effort between homeowner and interior designer.

St. Petersburg homes that display contemporary elegance typically include these popular design elements:

Dramatic color palettes in either bold accent colors or striking black and white hues. Monochromatic rooms drenched in a single color make for an expressive custom bathroom remodel.

Deluxe materials that have become symbols of modern finery encompass polished or brushed metal varieties for hardware and high-gloss finishes for cabinets.

Organic shapes and sculptured furniture are quickly defining contemporary luxury in St. Petersburg homes. Stepping away from traditional edges can be expensive, but often worth it for personal and dramatic visual appeal.

How to Choose Between Beachy and Sophisticated

Having a hard time deciding between modern coastal and contemporary elegance? Ask yourself these crucial questions before meeting with a local designer:

”Do I want a bright and refreshing space, or something bold and trendy?”

”Is my home actually near the water, or am I closer to the city?”

”Would I rather relax in a cozy environment, or show off to my guests with exciting design choices?”

Which is More Popular? In St. Petersburg, modern coastal and contemporary elegance are both loved by local homeowners looking for a transformative home renovation.
